Contribution of hysterosonography in the assessment of medical assistance to procreation

Abstract

Objective: To show the interest of hysterosonography in the exploration of female infertility  Method: This is a prospective, descriptive and longitudinal study carried out over a period of 2 years from February 1, 2017 to January 31, 2019. It took place jointly at the University Hospital of Cocody and a private health structure in the district of Abidjan. Were included the patients having consulted for desire of maternity and in whom the indication of medically assisted procreation was retained.  Results: The hysterosonography completion rate was 39.5%. The majority of patients were between 35 and 40 years old (52.1%). They were pauci gestures (33.1%) and nulliparous (75.2%). They had a primary education level and were illiterate in 36.3% of cases. Housewives, vendors and shopkeepers were in the majority in a proportion of 43.8%. The gynecological and obstetric history was mainly represented by abortions (42.1%) and fibroids with or without myomectomy (33.1%). In 81.8% of cases the hysterosonography was normal and pathological in 18.2% of cases. The main anomaly found was uterine synechia (45.5%).  Conclusion: Hysterosonography is a capital contribution in the exploration of female infertility and makes it possible to screen patients eligible for hysteroscopy.
