Abstract

Introduction: The purpose of this study was an assessment of the knowledge, attitudes and practices of providers in Saint Louis of Senegal on screening for breast and cervical cancer.
 Methodology: This was a descriptive cross-sectional study from the 1st to the 31st of August, carried out at the CHR, the health district and the various Saint-Louis health posts at the service providers (doctors, nurses and midwives). state woman). The number was 58. Data collection was done using a pre-structured questionnaire. The data was entered and computerized using the Epi info software.
 Results: Breast cancer was considered a public health problem in 89.6% of providers. 55.2% of providers had no ongoing training in breast cancer screening. Systematic screening was still offered in 43.1%. The majority of providers (86.2%) felt that with a suspicion of breast abnormality, the reference should be made in (55.2%) to a UHC. They estimated that the promotion of screening is best done through information, the explanation of women on cancer in 78.6%. 20.7% of respondents said that the role of screening is prevention while the majority (70.7%) thought that the role of screening is early diagnosis and early management.
 Conclusion : The knowledge, attitudes and practices regarding breast and cervical cancer among SaintLouis providers were considered insufficient at the end of the study. The main factors complained of were lack of training, shame / dis genital examination, lack of time, lack of materials and lack of means.
