Perineal tears at Ignace Deen national hospital in Guinea

Abstract
Objectives: calculate the frequency of perinealtears, describe the socio-demographic, clinical and management profile of perineal trauma in the maternityward of the Ignace Deen CHU national hospital in Conakry.
Methodology: This was a prospective study of a descriptive type in the gyneco-obstetricsdepartment of the Ignace Deen CHU national hospital in Conakry, extended over six monthsfrom March 1 to August 31, 2016. Weincluded all the deliveries of 'a single fetuswithperinealtear. the Anglo-Saxon classification wasused. Our variables were socio-demographic, clinical, therapeutic and prognostic. A simple descriptive analysis was carried out with the software Epi info6 and Microsoft Excel 2007 and the results expressed as percentage.
Results: The frequency of perineal tears was 5.98%. The socio-demographic profile wasdominated by first-time mothers (66.67%) The 16 to 20 year sage group (45.56%) with an average age of 22.42 years, range 16 and 32 years. Excised (63.89%) who gave birth to a childweighingbetween 2500 and 3999g (75.40%). Thesetearswere more observedduringobstructeddeliveries (57.7%) performed by midwives (73.33%). Simple tears (1st degree) were the mostcommon (90.56%). Management wassurgicalin 100 of the cases. Healing wascompletein 92.78% versus 4.45% suppuration.
Conclusion: The reduction of this frequency must go through the fight against early marriages, female genital mutilation. Continuous training of staff in the practice of childbirth and episiotomy as well as in the use of the suction cup.
