Results: The prevalence of complications was 17.6%. The average age of the women who presented these complications was 26.63. The age groups most represented were those corresponding to the genital life period, i.e., 24.32% for 25-29 year olds and 22.98% for 20-24 year olds. Most of them were housewives (67.53%), 85% were married and 47.30% were poor. The main indications were third trimester hemorrhage (50.1%), narrowed pelvis (17.3%) and multi-scarred uterus (15.7%). The main complications recorded were parietal suppuration (47.2%), surgical site bleeding (29.1%), and postpartum hemorrhage (10.4%). Management was limited to the use of antibiotics in bi or tritherapy, the use of oxytocics, and iron. The main factors found were: young age, residence in a rural area, being operated on for third trimester hemorrhage, scarred uterus or premature rupture of membranes.
Conclusion: The prevention of these complications requires compliance with infection control measures and staff training.
