Abstract

Objective: to study the evolution of our coelioscopy practice in the management of gynecological diseases at the Biyoghe clinic of Libreville.

Materials and Methods: it was a 15-year mono-centric retrospective study, between January 1, 2006 and January 1, 2021. We included all patients who received coelioscopy, whether diagnostic or operative during this reference period.

Results: we have collected 534 coelioscopies. The average age of patients was 31.2 years old, extremes 16 and 62 years old. Patients performed were either in genital activity (82.3%), or menopausal (17.7%). The indications were for diagnostic coelioscopies, salpingitis 19.2%, pelvic algia 14.8% and sterility 11.2%. For ceoliosurgeries, treatment of EGU 19.6%, cystectomy 11.7%, fimbryoplastia 12.2%, adhesiolysis 10.3%. The main complications observed in the per-operative are bleeding 2.2%, cyst breaks 2.1%, and in post-operative algia 1.4% and hyperthermia 1.3%. No death is attributable to coelioscopy during those 15 years.

Conclusion: as a return on investment in public health, the authors recommend that these techniques be wider disseminated in southern teams to improve patients care.
